After landing safely an American airman was captured and marched off by accused Lippmann to the town of Wolfsburg. During the march Lippmann fired several shots at the airman, thereby wounding him severely. In Wolfsburg the airman was temporarily put into the custody of a group of air raid wardens (among them, the accused Kuhnert), who beat him to death
