Mishandling of Polish workers. Requesting a work force of concentration camp prisoners for the town's basalt works. The prisoners were housed in the Römhild labor education camp, over which administration the defendant exercised powerful influence. Participation in the public hanging of 20 Poles in Poppenhausen. Mishandling and attempted shooting of a man who had hoisted a white flag shortly before the arrival of the American troops. Participation - at the end of the war - in the killing of 70 prisoners who were unfit to march and who were locked in a sand cave of which the entrance was subsequently blown up
